The 24th annual NEEF National Public Lands Day (NPLD), is the nation’s largest, single-day volunteer effort for public lands.

Spend the day outdoors giving back to your community by pulling invasive species, maintaining trails, picking up trash, and more.

National Park Entrance Fee-Free Day

The National Park Service turned 100 years old in 2016! Celebrate the start of their second century by visiting a park in 2017. During 10 days of the year, all National Park Service sites that charge an entrance fee will offer free admission to everyone.
Mark your calendar for these upoming entrance fee–free dates in 2017:

  • September 30: National Public Lands Day
  • November 11-12: Veterans Day Weekend

Lower Lake Paddle

You’ll need your own kayak to join this event on the Lower Lake…an adventure looking for aquatic wildlife.  Please wear waterproof clothing, water shoes, a hat, sunblock and bring water.  Program will be cancelled in the event of rain, heavy wind or impending storms.

Mushroom Hike

Let Nathaniel Whitmore from the Delaware Highlands Mushroom Society share his wealth of knowledge about wild edibles and how they are enjoyed by wildlife and humans. This is a short distance hike. Wear comfortable footwear. All ages welcome.  Registration appreciated. Cost $10 – Members $5

Howetown Farm Show

A fun and educational show about early American farm life. See live demonstrations of antique farm equipment, blacksmithing, hit & miss engines, antique wagons, cars, tractors and much more. Watch home-made ice cream being made and enjoy a free sample. Observe the ladies spinning, knitting or quilting. Tour a replica farmhouse. Free admission and parking. Food available for purchase. Nurture & Nourish: Sheep Sh’nugglin’ at Indraloka Animal Sanctuary

Brush wool, scratch backs, and feed treats to the resident fluffy friends! The day includes a tour of the sanctuary and a delicious plant-based lunch. There will be plenty of time to spend with the other animal residents throughout the day, too!
