Event: 8th Annual Environmental Art Show

Event:  Weiser State Forest Tree Planting

When:  Friday, April 20

Time:  8am to 2pm

Description:  Celebrate Earth Day by grabbing your boots or study shoes to help plant trees.  Tools, food and supplies will be supplied. Event will be held rain or shine.

Event:  Pinchot State Forest Tree Planting

When:  Friday, April 20

Time:  9am to 2pm

Description: Celebrate Earth Day weekend by helping PEC and DCNR plant trees! They have more than 3,000 seedlings ready to be transplanted to their new home in Pinchot State Forest — they just need a few friends to help out with the work.

The event will be held rain or shine. Be sure to wear boots or sturdy shoes. They’ll take care of the rest, including food and supplies.

Event:  Jim Thorpe Earth Day

Event: Spring Into Action: Earth Day Clean Up

When:  Sunday, April 22

Time:  9am to 3pm

Description: Celebrate Earth Day by giving back.  Help beautify Beltzville State Park!  Meet the park naturalist during the open house. During the open house, you will learn about upcoming events and projects in the park. After checking out the Education Interpretive Center, take this opportunity to take part in a park wide spring cleanup event.  Minors must be accompanied by an adult.  Sign up in advance as a conservation  volunteer by clicking on this link below to register:

Please, bring your leather/canvas gloves, wear comfortable clothing and sturdy shoes.  Bring along a lunch and drink too.  Whether you have only an hour to give or the entire day, there is a job for you!  Projects include winter debris removal, trail maintenance, gardening with the Friend’s Group, litter pick up, and much more.  Register to get emailed updates about this event.  Gather your friends and family and join this spring cleanup!

Event:  Earth Day Hike

When:  Sunday, April 22

Time:  10am to 11:30am

Description:  The Brodhead Watershed Association will host another in its series of Get Outdoors Poconos hikes at the Gravel Family Nature Preserve in Monroe County.  Naturalists Patti O’Keefe and Jackie Speicher will lead the 2-mile out-and-back hike to the headwaters of the Middle Branch of Brodhead Creek in Barrett Township.  Footing is easy to moderate, with leaves and rocks underfoot and stretches of wet ground. Event: Family Earth Day Hike

Time:  1pm to 2:30pm

Description: Celebrate Earth Day by using your senses to connect with nature! Enjoy a guided interpretive family hike along the trails of LCEEC. Stop throughout the trail to listen, smell, touch, and observe nature in the spring. Family friendly. $5 per person. Space is limited, and pre-registration is required. Event: Friends of Beltzville: Sawmill Trail Earth Day Hike

When:  Sunday, April 22

Time:  1pm to 3pm

Description:  Hike along the trails at Beltzville State Park.  These hikes will vary in length. Well behaved, leashed pets are welcome. Please wear sturdy shoes and bring drinking water.

The trails of Beltzville State Park follow wooded paths, old roads, and mowed walkways through forests, creek valleys, fields, and by the lake. The trails vary in length.

TRAIL:  Beltzville State Park Sawmill Run Trail

MEET:  Sawmill Run Trail – Sawmill Run Trailhead off of Old Mill Road.

This trail leads past several different habitats along the Sawmill Run Creek.

Join the Friends after the hike and help garden.  Clean up the Pollinator Garden located behind the EIC.  3pm.  A great Earth Day Activity
